This Privacy Policy describes how FixerLog, LLC, a New Hampshire limited liability company ("FixerLog," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, stores, and shares information about you when you use the FixerLog mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name (if provided), email address, and authentication credentials.
- Home system and appliance data. You may enter information about your home appliances, including manufacturer, brand, model number, serial number, purchase date, installation date, warranty information, service history, and any notes or maintenance records you create.
- Photos. You may upload photographs of appliances, labels, components, or related items. These images are stored in your account and associated with the relevant appliance records.
- AI chat messages. When you use the AI assistant feature, you submit messages and receive responses. Your chat messages, together with relevant appliance context from your account that is included in the prompt, are transmitted to a third-party AI provider for processing (see Section 4.1). Chat transcripts are stored in your account and associated with your session history.
- Payment information. If you subscribe to FixerLog Pro, payment transactions are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full payment card number, CVV, or bank account credentials. We receive and store a Stripe customer identifier, subscription status, plan type, and transaction history sufficient to manage your subscription.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data. We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including features accessed, actions taken, timestamps, and session duration.
- Device information. We collect your device type, operating system version, device language/locale, and app version. We do not collect your device's permanent hardware identifiers (such as IMEI or MAC address) beyond what Apple's platform provides through standard APIs.
- Crash and error reports. If the app crashes or encounters an error, we may collect diagnostic information about the event, including device state, stack traces, and error messages at the time of the failure.
- Log data. Our servers automatically record information about requests made to the Service, including request timestamps, API endpoints accessed, response status codes, and IP addresses. IP addresses are used for security and abuse prevention and are not associated with your user profile for tracking purposes.
1.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your precise or approximate geolocation.
- We do not access your contacts, calendar, or microphone.
- We do not access your camera or photo library except when you explicitly initiate a photo capture or upload within the app.
- We do not use device fingerprinting or cross-app tracking technologies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing the Service. Storing and displaying your appliance records, photos, and chat history; processing your requests; and operating the core functionality of the app.
- AI assistant. Transmitting your chat messages and relevant appliance context to Anthropic, Inc. for AI-powered response generation (see Section 4.1).
- Billing. Processing your subscription payments and managing billing through Stripe.
- Support. Responding to your support requests and communicating with you about your account.
- Service improvement. Analyzing aggregate usage patterns and diagnosing technical issues to improve the Service. We do not use your individual appliance data, photos, or chat content for product analytics or feature development.
- Transactional communications. Sending you subscription confirmations, renewal notices, payment receipts, and service-related alerts. We do not send promotional or marketing emails without your explicit opt-in consent.
- Security and fraud prevention. Detecting, investigating, and preventing unauthorized access, abuse, or other harmful activity.
3. How We Store Your Information
3.1 Account and Appliance Data
Your account information, appliance records, and chat transcripts are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on infrastructure operated by or on behalf of FixerLog, LLC. These servers are located in the United States. We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect this data, including encryption of data in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.
3.2 Photos
Photographs you upload are stored in Amazon Web Services Simple Storage Service (AWS S3) in the United States. Photos are stored with access controls that restrict access to authenticated requests from the Service. Photos are not publicly accessible unless you take explicit action to share them (if such a feature is made available). AWS S3 is governed by Amazon's security and compliance programs, including SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications.
3.3 Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the Service to you. Upon account deletion:
- Personal data and appliance records: Deleted or anonymized within thirty (30) days of your deletion request.
- Photos: Deleted from primary storage within thirty (30) days of your deletion request.
- Backups: May contain residual copies of your data for up to ninety (90) days following deletion. Backup copies are not used for any purpose other than disaster recovery and are overwritten in the normal course of backup rotation.
- Exceptions: We may retain limited information beyond these periods where required by applicable law, to resolve pending disputes, or to enforce our agreements.
4. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
4.1 Anthropic (AI Processing)
The AI assistant feature is powered by Anthropic, Inc.'s Claude API. When you submit a message to the AI assistant, that message — together with relevant appliance context from your account needed to generate a useful response — is transmitted to Anthropic's servers for processing.
AI training data: As of the effective date of this Privacy Policy, Anthropic's API usage policies state that data submitted through the API is not used to train Anthropic's models. We have selected API configurations consistent with this policy. However, Anthropic is an independent third party, and we cannot guarantee that Anthropic's policies will not change in the future. We encourage you to review Anthropic's current privacy policy and API terms at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
FixerLog does not sell your chat content to Anthropic or any other party. We do not use your chat transcripts to train our own or any third-party AI models.
User guidance: Do not include sensitive personal information in your chat messages that is not relevant to your appliance inquiry. Specifically, do not submit Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, health or medical information, or passwords through the AI assistant.
4.2 Stripe (Payment Processing)
Subscription billing is handled by Stripe, Inc. When you subscribe to FixerLog Pro, you interact with Stripe's payment interface, and your payment credentials are transmitted directly to Stripe. Stripe is a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We receive only the information described in Section 1.1 (customer identifier, subscription status, and transaction history). Stripe's privacy policy is available at https://stripe.com/privacy.
4.3 Apple (App Distribution)
The FixerLog application is distributed through Apple's App Store and, during beta, through Apple's TestFlight platform. Apple may independently collect information about your device and app usage pursuant to Apple's own privacy policies. Apple's data collection practices are governed by Apple and are not controlled by FixerLog.
4.4 Amazon Web Services (Photo Storage)
Photos are stored using AWS S3 as described in Section 3.2. AWS processes data on our behalf as a service provider and is contractually obligated to protect data in accordance with its cloud services agreement. AWS's privacy practices are governed by the AWS Privacy Notice.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with the third-party vendors identified in Section 4, who perform services on our behalf. These vendors receive only the information necessary to perform their specific function and are contractually obligated to use your data only for that purpose and to maintain appropriate security measures.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law; (b) protect the rights, property, or safety of FixerLog, our users, or the public; (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) enforce our Terms of Service.
- Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide you with notice (via email to the address on your account or through the Service) before your personal information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
- With your consent. We may share information for purposes not described in this Privacy Policy if we obtain your explicit consent to do so.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Access and Correction
You may access and update your account information and appliance records at any time through the app.
6.2 Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data by contacting us at info@fixerlog.com. We will confirm receipt of your request and process the deletion within thirty (30) days. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Upon deletion, your appliance records, photos, and chat history will be removed in accordance with the retention schedule in Section 3.3.
If an in-app account deletion feature is available, you may also use that feature to initiate deletion directly.
6.3 Data Export / Portability
Upon request, we will provide you with an export of your appliance data and chat history in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (such as JSON or CSV). To request an export, contact us at info@fixerlog.com. We will fulfill export requests within thirty (30) days.
6.4 Communications Preferences
You may not opt out of transactional communications (such as billing receipts and security alerts), as these are necessary for the operation of your account. If you have opted in to promotional communications, you may withdraw consent at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in any such communication or by contacting us at info@fixerlog.com.

8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information within a reasonable timeframe. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at info@fixerlog.com.
9. Data Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
